I'm glad Charlotte has put the forum back up so we can all suggest activities and keep up to date with what's coming up. What about the classic car show on 8th August? Anyone fancy that? Also there is a soul night at the old reynolds bar: The Underground- Ashiana function room on 14th.

I'm interested in meeting people 45+ to make friends with, I've just move into Stafford and it is a bit lonely when you don't know many people and your children have left home after completing their education.
I like literature, music, eating out, cooking and generally socialising. Please let me know what groups I can contact to meet interesting people, not necessarily for dating. I'm in my early 50s, fit, good fun and have a good personality. Many thanks. Mara

Hiya Charl,

Like the idea of this forum. How about a trip to the cinema soon? Any ideas about what film would be good? Speak to you at meeting on monday.

Hi everyone,

I have put this forum on the website so people can get an idea of the activities on offer at the Hub. Activities purely depend on the interests of its users, so if you want to do something write it on here and see if others would like to do it too. Then arrange a day and time to meet and do it. Its that simple. This aspect of Stafford Social Hub is a friendship network. This means people access the service to meet people and make friends and hopefully have a laugh too. People can dip in and out of the service whenever they want. All activities are charged at £1 to cover the costs of running the network. Activities can be as interesting or as chilled as you like. The main thing is you are getting out of the house to socialise and have some fun for a change. None of the friendship network activities have a facilitator. Instead activities are arranged by users for users. The Hub is like a bridge to bring people together if you like.

As with all social groups it may take you a while to feel comfortable and find people you really get on with, but be patient and I am sure you will meet plenty of like-minded people to spend time with. And afterall, as the service grows so will our membership so you are bound to meet lots of people and make long and lasting networks of friends.

Its always daunting meeting new people so this forum gives people the chance to discuss their ideas for activities as well as break the ice, well at least in cyberspace anyway. Today, someone described Stafford Social Hub as a face to face facebook, which I suppose it is. The Hub knows the value of socialising in the real world, not just in the realms of the virtual. Therefore we should be looking after our social health, that's for sure, so happy friendship networking!
